Thank you to Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust!

We're grateful to Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust for the donation of den boxes and trail cameras for Martens on the Move.

Stuart Timson, Project Manager at Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, hands over den boxes and trail cameras to Lucy Nord, Martens on the Move Project Officer.

We would like to say ‘Thank You’ to Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust (GWT) for donating 11 pine marten den boxes and seven trail camera kits to the Martens on the Move project.

These den boxes were originally made during GWT’s Project Pine Marten, which ended in 2024. Vincent Wildlife Trust (VWT) collaborated with GWT, Forestry England and Forest Research for this project that saw 35 pine martens translocated from Scotland to the Forest of Dean and lower Wye Valley between 2019 – 2021. Previously, between 2015 – 2017, VWT’s Pine Marten Recovery Project also reintroduced 51 pine martens to the mid-Wales area, which have since been expanding their range.

Now, Martens on the Move is taking the next step forward in pine marten conservation and supporting the natural recovery of pine martens. One way we’re doing this is by improving habitat for pine martens by installing den boxes that replicate old tree cavities, providing pine martens with a safe place to rest, over winter and raise their young. The den boxes donated by GWT will become part of this conservation effort.

Additionally, the trail cameras donated will support our ongoing work to monitor the species and their gradual recovery in Britain’s woodlands.

Thank you, Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust!
